One day after arriving in Canada, our founder almost became a victim. That moment planted the seed for Sonar.
To make digital safety accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background, or technical experience.
I had been in the country for less than 24 hours when my phone rang.
The voice on the other end said they were calling from a Canadian government agency. They had my name. They knew I had just arrived. They told me there was a serious problem with my paperwork, and if I didn't act immediately, I would be arrested and deported.
I had landed in Canada full of hope, ready to start a new chapter. I was still figuring out how things worked. New banks. New documents. New systems. Everything unfamiliar. And now, less than a day in, someone was threatening to take it all away.
The fear was real. The urgency was real. The voice sounded official enough that I almost believed it. Yet something felt off. I paused. I asked questions. And eventually, I realized it was a scam designed specifically for people like me. New arrivals. Confused. Afraid of authority. Easy targets.
I didn't lose money that day, though I came dangerously close. The experience stayed with me. I started talking to other newcomers, seniors, friends, and family, and I heard the same story again and again. People targeted because they were vulnerable. People who lost real money. People who felt ashamed and never told anyone.
The tools meant to protect people weren't built with us in mind. They were built for people who already knew the system, who already knew what to look out for. There had to be a better way.
That is why I founded SignalTrust Technologies. Sonar is our first answer to the question: what if scam protection was free, simple, and built for the people who need it most?
This isn't just a company. It's personal.
Three principles guide everything we build.
Every feature, every design choice, they all serve one goal: keeping people safe from harm. We never compromise on this.
Our tools are free for individuals, simple to use, and designed to work for newcomers, seniors, and families, not just tech experts.
We don't store your messages. We don't track you. We don't sell data. Your safety doesn't come at the cost of your privacy.
